A fleet of Army helicopters made multiple sorties during an aerial rescue operation for stranded tourists and locals in Lachen, Lachung, and Chungthang in northern Sikkim on Monday — five days since flash floods in the Teesta river cut off the high-altitude interiors from the rest of the state. By 5pm, more than 380 tourists had been airlifted from Chaten, Lachen, and Lachung.
