Kerala moves SC over governor’s ‘inaction’ on bills

The Kerala government has approached the Supreme Court, joining Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Telangana, in alleging that the governor is not taking a decision on bills passed by the assembly. The government claims that this is "defeating" the rights of the people to welfare measures sought to be implemented through the proposed laws. The Kerala government has pleaded the court to pass orders in relation to eight bills pending with the governor for more than two years. The governor's conduct is seen as manifestly arbitrary and a subversion of the Constitution.
