Canada and Google have reportedly reached an agreement over a dispute regarding a new law requiring large internet companies to share advertising revenue with news publishers. If confirmed, the deal would prevent Google from blocking news on its platform. The reported agreement involves Google making annual payments of around C$100 million ($73.6 million) to news companies in exchange for continuing to share Canadian news on its platforms. The Online News Act, part of a global trend, passed in June, and the government is finalizing rules expected by December 19.
