Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud discusses the increase in fraught cases as elections draw closer. He recalls the determination of Cornelia Sorabjee to enter the legal profession in the late 19th century after being denied entry to the bar in Bombay, forcing her to appear for the pleader examination in Allahabad. He is pleased to see a large number of women advocates practicing in the Supreme Court and other courts, as the legal profession has become more inclusive to people from different genders, castes, and regions.
