After NCP MLA Nawab Malik sat on the treasury benches in the legislative assembly, deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis expressed concern about his inclusion in the Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP grand alliance. Fadnavis wrote to deputy CM Ajit Pawar stating that it would be inappropriate for Malik to be part of the alliance due to the charges against him. Fadnavis referred to Malik's alleged 'Dawood connection' and emphasized the importance of the country over personal enmity. Ajit Pawar also mentioned that BJP did not want to include Anil Deshmukh, another former minister facing corruption charges.
