Till Goel quit, it was business as usual at EC HQ

On March 7, the Election Commission's Nirvachan Sadan office operated normally, just a day before election commissioner Arun Goel tendered his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu. On that particular day, Goel had engaged in an off-camera discussion between the EC, led by chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar, and representatives of the international media. This meeting had been arranged by the ministry of external affairs. Preceding this, on March 4 and 5, Kumar and Goel had been in West Bengal as part of the EC's routine pre-poll visits to various states and Union Territories to evaluate election readiness.
